About Watiti and the Information We Collect

Watiti is an online social networking community that connects people through networks of friends for dating or making new friends. Watiti members can view each others' profiles, communicate with old friends and meet new friends on the service, share photos, post journals and comments, and describe their interests. To accomplish this, our users create their own profiles which are shown to the people in their personal network. A personal network consists of a user’s friends as well as the extended group of people that a user is connected to via chains of mutual friends. To fulfill the purpose of this site, some personal information we ask for is displayed to people within these personal networks. At any time, Watiti members can change their profile information and control how other members and the service communicates with them.

From time to time, Watiti or a partner, may sponsor a promotion, sweepstake or contest on the website. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate. We may transfer personal information to certain ad partners that you have explicitly requested to receive information from. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply.

Watiti collects user-submitted account information such as name and email address to identify users and send notifications related to the use of the service. Watiti also collects user-submitted profile information but not limited to: such as gender, age, occupation, location, etc. in order to assist users in finding and communicating with each other.

Information not Directly Submitted by Users to Watiti

This is information we collect that is not personally identifiable, such as browser type and IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to the site. We only use this data to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to members. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes. This information is gathered for all users to the site.

Information users submit to Watiti

Profile information as well as first name and photos are displayed to people in a user's personal network, to support the function of the site as social networking community where users can meet new people through their friends. Email address and full name are used when a user invites a friend via email to join the service, when a user requests to add another user to their friend list, and when we send notifications to a user related to their use of the service. Except when inviting or adding friends, a user's email address is not shared or displayed with people within a user's personal network. Users within a personal network communicate on Watiti with each other through the Watiti service, without disclosing email addresses. To facilitate searching and finding friends and acquaintances on the service, Watiti allows users to search for other members using first and last name, email address, and schools and/or companies where users may have attended or worked. We may also use a user's email address to send weekly updates or news regarding our site, but the user may choose not to receive email of this type by accessing their Account Info.

Information that users do not submit to us

As you navigate the Website, certain information may also be passively collected and stored on our server logs, including your Internet protocol address, browser type, and operating system. We also use Cookies and navigational data like Uniform Resource Locators (URL) to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit and the solutions and information for which you searched and viewed, or on which of the advertisements displayed on the Website you clicked. This type of information is collected to make our services and solutions more useful to you and to tailor the Watiti community experience to meet your special interests and needs.

If you search the Watiti community by using Watiti’s toolbar or a third party provides, we may collect Anonymous Information about you automatically, but we will not collect Personal Information.

An "Internet protocol address" or "IP Address" is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. In some cases your IP Address stays the same from browser session to browser session; but if you use a consumer internet access provider, your IP Address probably varies from session to session. Use of Cookies

Changes in Our Privacy Policy

If we change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our web site so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. The user is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted. If you object to any such changes, you must cease using our Website. Continued use of our Website following notice of any such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of such changes. If we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email.

Invite a Friend

If a user elects to use our Invite feature to invite a friend to our site, we ask them for the friend's email address. Watiti will automatically send the friend an email inviting them to join the site. Watiti stores this email address for the purpose of automatically adding the respondant to the friends list of the user sending the invitation, and also to send reminders of the invitation. Watiti does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides invitations and invitation reminders. The friend may contact Watiti to request the removal of this information from our database.

Watiti members may also store email addresses of people they know in their internal Watiti address book and may also choose to send invitations and other communications to those addresses.

You may prevent Watiti email invitations and other messages from being sent to any email address you control by sending an email with the subject "BLOCK" to privacy@watiti.com Please note that the email must come from the account you wish to block.

Chat Rooms, Message Boards, and Public Forums

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online - for example on message boards, journals, webLogs, classifields or any other Public Forums through e-mail, or in chat areas - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, by posting personal information online that is publicly accessible, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.

We reserve the right to send you certain communications relating to the Watiti service, such as service announcements, administrative messages, weekly updates and our Newsletter, that are considered part of your Watiti account.
